Bartlett LLP Instructs Its Staff In CPR And The Use Of The Automated External Defibrillator

Several years ago, a colleague of ours sustained a sudden cardiac arrest while arguing a motion in Court. He was successfully resuscitated with the use of an automated external defibrillator.

After that scare, Bartlett LLP purchased and installed automated external defibrillators in each of our offices and instructed our staff in how to perform CPR and use the AED safely.

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death among people over the age of 40 and it affects more than 300,000 people every year. About 400 work place deaths from cardiac arrests are reported to OSHA each year. According to the National Safety Council, more than 30,000 lives have been saved through CPR and AED training. It is believed that greater access to defibrillators could save at least 40,000 lives each year in the United States.

On October 1, 2018, our dedicated staff again underwent comprehensive training in the performance of CPR, first aid and the use of the automated external defibrillator.

While we hope to never have to use the AED, our staff is ready, willing and able to initiate lifesaving treatment. Congratulations and a heartfelt thanks to all of our life savers!

We urge other law firms and lawyers to similarly equip their offices!
