Nicholas Switach and the Labor Team Succeed in Adding an Additional Class of Employee to Union

Nick Switach and the labor team successfully added a new class of public employee to the Town of Newburgh PBA. The Town of Newburgh Court Attendants had, for years, protected the Town Court and Judges and did so without the employee protections of the PBA. Nick and the team petitioned the Public Employees Relations Board in Albany for Union Placement into the Town of Newburgh PBA on behalf of the Attendants and the Union. After a hearing before PERB in Albany and ongoing negotiations, the Town agreed to recognize the PBA as the proper bargaining unit for all Court Attendants.

As members of the PBA, the Court Attendants will join the many full and part time police officers currently represented by Bartlett LLP. As members, they’ll gain the benefits available to the Union including representation for contract negotiations, workplace grievances and other employment related matters.
