Scott Schneider Wins Defense Verdict in Nassau County

On September 27, 2016 Scott Schneider received a unanimous jury verdict on behalf of a physician client in a medical malpractice case venued in Supreme Court, County of Nassau.

The litigation involved our client’s alleged failure to diagnose and treat a bowel perforation that occurred following a surgery to remove two ovarian cysts. The plaintiff claimed that the perforation went undetected for over three days and resulted in an emergency surgery as well as two other subsequent procedures, which left her completely disabled and permanently unable to work.

Our defense was that, despite the unfortunate outcome, the patient’s work-up, diagnosis, and referral to surgery was timely and in accordance with the proper standards of care.

After a three week trial the jury agreed and rendered a unanimous verdict in favor of our physician client.
