Widow of Murder-Suicide Police Officer to Get Death Benefit

On Saturday, February 21, 2015 a retired White Plains Police Officer shot his daughters to death before killing himself in the family’s home.  His wife and another daughter were out for the day and were unharmed.  Two weeks before this tragic incident, the officer had filed new retirement papers that removed his wife as the beneficiary.  Warren Roth, of counsel, came to the aide of this grieving widow.  He succeeded in convincing the New York State Comptroller’s Office to undo what would have been an additional near fatal wound to this fractured family.  Since the State had not yet processed the form or paid out anything from the Officer’s pension Warren convinced the Comptroller to recognize his original retirement papers that had provided for a death benefit.
